About me

Lindsay Cummings is a sought-after voice instructor, musician and teaching artist. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay and a Masters of Music in Musical Theatre and Opera Performance from Arizona State University. She has worked extensively in television and musical theatre throughout the country, but teaching young artists has always been her passion. She is currently a Professor of Musical Theatre Voice & Piano at Roosevelt University's Chicago College of Performing Arts and Loyola University Chicago.  In 2019, she founded Chicago Music & Acting Academy in Jefferson Park.

She cultivates a safe and welcoming work environment that allows students the freedom to explore their musical voice. She approaches singing and piano performance from a pedagogical and physical standpoint - you will often see her students exercising in their lessons!  Other than teaching, Lindsay has published articles on the use of exercise and kinesthetics in singing and performance, and is currently writing a book for teachers of musical theatre voice.  Most recently, she founded Downstage Arts, a non profit organization designed to provide performing arts opportunities to people and students from marginalized communities.

She also serves as the Vice President and President-Elect of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Chicago Chapter.
